U. S. Army Medical Department Logos & Titles
U. S. Army Hospital Department
Titles
There were several
different logos used by various publishers during the Civil War for the
books ordered by the Surgeon-General's Office for the
U. S. Army Medical Department and the U. S. Army Hospital Department.
When the Medical
Department became very active during the first year of the War, these
logos and imprints were used on the books specifically ordered for use
in the field and hospitals. See the notice at the bottom of this
page which Lippincott published in the front of Power's book on
Surgical Anatomy of the Arteries.
Below are some of the examples
found in this and other collections. Any additions would be appreciated.
