Notes: Pare tells the story of Dorothea, and Italian lady who delivered 20 babies in 2 pregnancies (one of 11 babies and one of 9). She was required to use a girdle around her neck as her abdomen became so large. This image is well known and was reproduced in later editions of Pare. This is from an early edition.
