Medical Xylography Description Block 11

Author: Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522-1605). Book: "Monstrorum Historia" from the series "Opera Omnia" (General Natural History). Date: 1642. The illustration shows a deformed "monster" without a head but with a trunk coming out of the back!  Aldrovandi was born in Bologna and became one of the first true naturalists, using his fortune to collect materials and specimens from all over the world.
