JOHN BUTTERFIELD, M.D., Died, on the 7th of September, 1849, at Salisbury, New Hampshire, of consumption. At the time of his death, he was Professor of the Theory and Practice of Medicine in Starling Medical College, Ohio, and Editor of the Ohio Medical and Surgical Journal. As a lecturer and teacher, Dr. Butterfield had but few equals. His talents were of a superior order. As an editor, he was peculiarly adapted to his calling, and, we fear, it will be difficult to find for his successor one possessed of the same rare combination of talents which characterized the deceased. (N. Y. Journ. Med.) Dr. Butterfield was a member of the American Medical Association.
