Extensive additional biography information

Clements was witness to the 1861 treaty with the Navajos and during the Indian Wars served as
Post Surgeon at St. Louis Barracks in Missouri. He was also Medical Director of General George
Crooks entire force and part of the Yellowstone Expedition. On the back is printed "S. Anderson's Imperial Photograph Studio - No. 183 Canal Street - Three Sister Buildings - New Orleans" and in ink "To Dr. Alden with regards B.A.C. - 1870". While not listed in The Roster of Regimental Surgeons and Assistant Surgeons , there are 30 references to him in the Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion .
He wrote Memoir of Jonathan Letterman, M.D.  Residence: 1850 - Washington Ward 2, Washington, District of Columbia
