Expanded Photos of Cased Surgical Sets

Stodart Surgical Set ca. 1830

This is an unusual early English surgical set by Stodart of London. The firm was started by J. Stodart in 1787 and the last listing in Bennion is 1839, when the company was run by David Stodart. Unusual elements of this set include the fine mahogany handles on the instruments and the inclusion of a tooth key. There are a variety of amputation and neurosurgical instruments. The Hey skull saw is of an unusual form and a tortoise shell handled gum or bleeding lancet is an unusual addition.
